Description

The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0033 col. 7 Black is a unisex optical frame from the ERASE collection, one of the most recognizable interpretations of the Japanese designer’s “Unfinished Art” concept. The idea stems from the act of erasing lines from a drawing with a rubber and subsequently tracing new ones: elements that are apparently missing or out of place thus become an intentional part of the structure.

The pure titanium front features two large, round lenses that are slightly irregular and deliberately non-specular. The No. 7 Black finish makes the design particularly graphic: on the right side, a thin black line crosses horizontally through the lower part of the lens and continues outwards, breaking the traditional continuity of the circle. It is precisely this “erased and redrawn” element that characterizes the ERASE collection.

The temples also follow a free and slightly wavy geometry. They are made of β-titanium with acetate tips, while the adjustable nose pads complete a light and sophisticated construction. Viewed from the front, the model appears essential; changing perspective, however, reveals the asymmetry, interruptions, and overlapping lines that define its identity.

The dimensions are 50-21-140 mm and the frame is Made in Japan. The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0033 Black thus combines a round shape of immediate readability with a decidedly unconventional construction: black titanium, asymmetrical geometries, and deliberately interrupted lines transform a classic round frame into an avant-garde piece of eyewear that is distinctive yet surprisingly balanced.
