Description

The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0074 col. 1 Black Gold is a unisex optical frame from the Kintsugi collection, inspired by the ancient Japanese technique of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting, rather than concealing, their fractures. Masahiro Maruyama applies this principle to eyewear through deliberately irregular lines and interruptions in the structure, an expression of his "Unfinished Art" concept.

The pure titanium front features a geometric and slightly faceted panto shape, made particularly elegant by the black finish. Breaking the total black look is a thin vertical gold element on the right side, conceived as the trace of a Kintsugi repair: an essential detail that intentionally breaks the continuity of the rim and introduces a refined asymmetry.

The construction remains extremely clean and lightweight. The temples are crafted from β-titanium with acetate tips, while adjustable nose pads contribute to a precise fit. The Black-Gold combination is particularly successful because the chromatic contrast does not overwhelm the design, but rather highlights the very "fractures" that define the identity of the collection.

The dimensions are 46-24-145 mm and the frame is Made in Japan. The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0074 Black Gold interprets a relatively compact shape through a decidedly contemporary language: black titanium, golden accents, and intentionally imperfect geometries create a sophisticated and distinctive pair of glasses, capable of expressing the designer's avant-garde vision without being excessive.
