Description

The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0085 col. 1 Black is a unisex optical frame from the DESSIN collection, one of the founding lines of the Japanese designer’s aesthetic. The project stems from the free gesture of a hand-sketch: the imperfect lines of the drawing are transferred directly onto the frame, resulting in deliberately irregular and asymmetrical shapes. It is a particularly clear representation of the "Unfinished Art" concept that characterizes Masahiro Maruyama.

The front interprets the classic crown pantos shape through a multifaceted and decidedly unconventional geometry. The two lenses are not perfectly symmetrical: almost straight segments alternate with softer curves, creating a profile that looks like it was traced freehand. The No. 1 Black colorway accentuates the graphic character of the frame and highlights the continuous variations of its perimeter.

The structure is crafted from pure titanium, while the temples combine beta-titanium and acetate. The design remains slim and lightweight despite the strong personality of the shape; adjustable nose pads and acetate temple tips complete a technical and refined construction, entirely made in Japan.

The dimensions are 46-23-145 mm, with a lens height of approximately 41 mm and a total front width of approximately 141 mm. The Masahiro Maruyama MM-0085 Black thus manages to transform a pantos shape into something completely personal: black titanium, faceted profiles, and controlled asymmetries create an avant-garde frame that is essential in color yet immediately recognizable in design.
